Spring Cleaning

Meren was looking forward to the trip to Italy with Michael. She had known herself not to be the type to lead others in the way of compassion and tolerance. As much as she had believed those who worked here in the Tower with her, to be caring and understanding, she got the rude awakening that they were not.

She found herself and Diana the butts of some rather viscious gossip. Making clear notations in her ledger that she had Fired the woman who bandied about the words Witch and Heresy. The woman had been one of her best. Her two cronies had proven to do what most humans do, follow. When confronted, they turned out to be harmless. Duly warned, but harmless.

Because of all this, Meren had tightened up the rules for the staff in the Tower. Also the duties were increased. Keep them busy, they will have less time for tongue wagging and back stabbing.

The main thing she had to do now was find and hire a new lead nurse. Maybe she could get Michael to build her one? No, wishful thinking, but what she needed was someone with a good heart, strong soul and backbone of Iron, not to mention a tongue of velvet.

She wrote up some flyers and had a page tack them up all over town, and even send some to other towns in her Duchy.
