| The destrier is the best-known war horse of our times. They are ridden in battles, and in jousts. Another name for the Destrier is Great Horse, due to its size and reputation.
The word destrier does not refer to a breed, but to a type of horse: the finest and strongest warhorse. These horses are usually stallions, bred and raised from foalhood specifically for the needs of war.
They have powerful hindquarters, able to easily coil and spring to stop, spin, turn or sprint forward. They also have a short back and well-muscled loin, strong boned, and a well-arched neck.
A good destrier is expensive but well worth the gold. The destrier is known for its loyalty to its rider and highly intelligent making it even more suited for the task it is bred for.
The Dens of the Destriers is just past the Palfrey Pastures. Quite a walk, I assure you, but your time will not be wasted should your needs include such a magnificent animal and companion.
